Chelsea are set to battle for RB Leipzig’s attacking midfielder Christopher Nkunku. He is who has been in excellent form and scoring early this season.
The Sun reports that Nkunku has attracted interest from several of Europe’s biggest clubs. One of them is Chelsea, where head coach Thomas Tuchel knows the French midfielder’s pace.
Ngunku has made a great start to the season, scoring four goals and providing two assists in his first six Bundesliga games. And a hat-trick in the UEFA Champions League group stage. The first match where RB Leipzig lost 3-6 to Manchester City.
The report states that Chelsea have contacted RB Leipzig to inquire about the possibility of signing Nkunku. With the aim of bringing the 23-year-old attacking midfielder back to Tuchel. They worked together at Paris Saint-Germain in the 2018-19 season.
Nkunku has previously attracted interest from Manchester City and Real Madrid, so it is expected that a major tussle will take place with Chelsea next summer, with Pini Zahawi. The player’s agent confirmed to Foot Mercato that talks with the three clubs actually took place.
It is expected that if the offer is satisfactory, RB Leipzig will not hinder the transfer. As with many of the stars that have been sold before, Ngunku has a contract with the team until 2024.

Nkunku has scored nine goals in just ten games in all competitions this season, including a scintillating hat-trick during the 6-3 Champions League loss at the hands of Manchester City.
The incredible showing also caught the eye of Pep Guardiola, with the Etihad chief also in talks with Nkunku.
The midfielder’s agent, Pini Zahavi, has confirmed he is in talks with Chelsea, Man City and Real Madrid over a summer 2022 switch, according to Foot Mercato.
Nkunku is under contract at RB Leipzig until the end of the 2023-24 season.
